At the start of the year I could only say my monga and awa (mountain and river) as well as my

normal mihi. link

Now I can say a whakatauki, a mihi, my monga, awa auntys, uncles and my normal mihi. link

This year my least favorite thing was swimming.  Don’t get me wrong I like swimming but the

school pool is too cold for me.

At the start of this year I wanted to be the smartest year 7 in my family at math and I am. It was

hard work but I did it.

I am the only year 7 in Ata Hapara that’s in the top math group in the school.I feel like I have

done what I can to prepare for next year but in reading I’m not so sure because in turm 3 I was

put in a reading group that was too easy for me.

To get better at spelling. So I can be prepared for high school. So I can do well and spell the

words right. Being a year 7 is a big change so take every opportunity you get, take a leap of faith,

have fun and be a good kid so whaea Jas doesn't tell you off. If you're a good kid whaea Jas wil

l give you donuts.

Looking back if I had three words to describe myself they would be confident, enthusiastic

and confusing. Now if I had three words to describe myself they would be supportive, still

confident and clear when I talk.

I have always been a very confident person, but not always so supportive but I have been

working on it and I now find myself as a supportive friend at the start of the year. I was not

very clear when I talked and now I feel that people are understanding what I say.

My favorite parts of the year this year was getting to make dances up in the back room with

Kahu, Jade, Naquita and Aliana. I also enjoyed free writing because when I free write I feel free

and I’m in a zone that calms me and relaxes me when I'm overwhelmed.

If I had to choose one word I would choose dramatic. I picked the word dramatic because

coved 19 came. We had to do school from home and isolate. So you could not see your friends

unless you skyped them during school.

My favorite space in the class was properly the big break out room because I go in there to

do my work because it’s quiet and I like to dance in there with my best best friends

What I’d miss most about my classmates would be dancing around, having competitions on

who can finish the work first the best.

The thing I will miss most about my teacher is she left not being what you may call her pet

(as in teachers pet)

The girl and the eval man part 2

   Chapter 2 

                     The Rescue

BANG BANG BANG all the men huddle like little babies around the girl.

It's the girls parents coming to the rescue or was... It turns out there was a huge storm and the bangs wore trees falling on cave. the man says “what are we going to do” now

“We gather supplies so we can make beds, find food, close up the entrance and find light” the girl mumbles 

“Uh” all the men sigh 

“Go” the man says

Once they gathered up supplies and made the beds. Each person had there own job the girls job was to block up the front of the cave but Monique was a smart kid she left herself a small hole once all of the men and women fell asleep the girl creeped out the cave using the hole she made she quickly filled it in so they couldn't get out until the storm was over.

Monique found herself a cave gathered food, water and made light then signaled  S O S

Her parents saw the light and hid with her. Monique's mum and dad were soaking so they got out of their camouflage suits and sat by the fire for warmth.

As the kidnappers awaken they realise the girl is gon and start blaming each other for letting her get free “you did it” “you let the kid free” They yelled at each other

“FIND HER” “FIND HER NOW” The man screamed  

They realised they couldn't get out the mud they used to block up the entrance had now just hardened “she played us” they yell

Once the parents were warm, they made a plan to escape. The first thing they would do was make sure the kidnappers cave was blocked really well. Then they would go to the front of the forest and drive home and live happily ever after so it was a perfect plan UNTIL…

Monique led her family to the cave. The kidnappers had begun to escape so monique decided to build another layer on to the cave entrants. So that the kidnappers were secured.  Then they made there way to the bottom of the forest but at the bottom of the forest instead of there being a normal car there was a police car don don don

“Mam and sir you're under arrest for kidnap of Monique Koa” The policeman says 

“Sir this is a big misunderstanding” The parents mumble 

“Sure it is get in the car”

“Where through” One of the kidnappers yelled  

“YAY” They all yell 

The kidnapers run down the hill and are free 

“FIND THAT GIRL” The man yelled             

                  

“Were innocent until proven guilty” A couple coming out of the court screamed

“You were proven guilty” The court jester says  

“Your turn” the policeman grumped 

“Ok” The parents say

The Judge says “you were caught red handed pushing the victim into your car your clearly guilty but you have a chance to prove your case”  

“That kid is our kid her name is Monique Koa she was born on October the fourth 2007” The  girl’s mother says  

“Do you have her birth certificate to prove it” the judge asked

“no not with us mam”

“Why were you pushing her into the car then?”

“Ask her oh wait you cant because she's still at the forest”

“We can’t” 

“Then what do you have to prove your innocent”

“ nothing mam”

“ lets let the jurys what they think” 

 “Guilty on all charges” the jurys say

“WERE INNOCENT” the father screams

“arrest them”

      The Girl and The Evil Man 

                      Chapter 1

Up on a hill, in western California, there lived a girl who had the spirit of an angel.  She had dark brown straight hair, wore designer clothes and had blue coloured, diamond eyes.  Her name was Monique.

One day, Monique and her family went to a concert . There was a man there who had yellow teeth, half a head of hair and old rotting clothes.  He wanted everything the girl and her family represented,  so he waited for the perfect moment and  then he snatched the girl and ran with her to his car.  He  drove her to a cave deep in a forest 150 miles from the concert. 

He got to the forest, forced the girl into old clothes and found a cave.

Back at the concert, the girl’s parents were freaking out.  They asked everyone if they had seen her. No one knew where she went until a little girl from the back of the crowd mumbled “A man ran that way.” She pointed towards the forest. 

“The forest?” everyone asked confusedly.

“The forest is 150 miles from here. Are you sure?” 

the parents asked.

“Sure” replied the girl. 

“Okay” the parents said. They got in  the car and took off towards the forest.

They finally arrived at the forest and started to hike 

“Look look a cave” shouted the mother  

“Where almost there”

“Yay” replied the father

Meanwhile…

The man spotted the girls parents and picked up the girl and ran deeper into the forest.“excuse me”

 “what little girl” the man rudely replied

“I can see my mum and dad. It was nice to be kidnapped by you but now it is time for me to go home.”said the girl

“g g go home”the man stutterd 

“Why yes” replied the girl

“Are you um what's the word for it…”

“Stupid?” 

“Yes are you stupid?” 

“I don't know, are you?” replied the girl 

“no!” the man yelled 

Quickly after the man heard a noise “up there” 

“there he is” the girl's parents yelled. 

“I think your the stuped one” the girl laughed 
“You know what Shut Up”   

 “Ok”  the girl says.

Back at the concert everyone was puting missing girl posters up everywhere. look left missing girl posters look right missing girl posters look up missing girl posters you get it. There are missing girl posters everywhere.

At the forest the girls parents are now sprinting to the back of the forest, suddenly they hear something and quickly jump behind a huge rock. It is some of the kidnappers' friends they're talking about how they can’t wait to see the girl and how she's perfect.

The parents wait for them to go further into the forest, then decide they need to disguise themselves in case more of the kidnappers' friends show up so they gather supplies like; sticks, leaves, grass and rocks then they make camoflash suits, and begin hiking.

The man sat with the girl and waited for his friends once they got there. They met the girl, and had know idea what was about to happen...

 Yesterday on the 1st of December we learnt about a male's body parts.  

We learnt that sometimes during the night the body system of a male likes to test to see if everything is okay so they let a sperm out of the males body witch is called a wet dream witch is 100% normal for boys to go this. We also learnt were male cancer can apper is usually around the penis and the breast. We learnt where the sperm comes from.

Book Club

For the past few weeks Ata Hapara has been doing some book clubs in groups of four book clubs are when people get to together read and talk about the book.

I'm in a group of 4 In my group I have my friend Kahu and two other boy called Kaiden and Travis. each person in our group has there own task what they do are puplicist, translator, illustrator and editor.

I think this book club idea has really improve my reading, comsiprehension, figurative language and confidents with my reading.

My Math Test

My Math Test 

Today in math we had to do a high school math test. 

If we got under 18 points we had to do it again we were marked 

1 point for correct formula written out 
2 points for a set layout and working out 
1 point for the correct answer and
1 point for correct units of measure 

I had to do the test again because my layout was wrong.

My Adrenalin Forest Experience

Adrenaline Forest!

On Wednesday the 12th of August, some of the year 7 & 8s from 

Ata Hapara and Tangaroa went to Adrenalin Forest via van.

I woke on Wednesday with so much energy I could do a backflip - literally. I got ready and jumped in the car to head off to school.

At school, one of my best friends was waiting for me. "Jade" I yell.

"Mailli," she yelled back. 

Shortly after, my other bestie, Kahu showed even more excited than me. We were jumping up and down in excitement. because we were going to Adrenaline Forest.

Suddenly Nogo, a teacher from Tangaroa, walked in. He wanted to do a roll to see who was there. Kahu and I were nervous because Naquita wasn't there yet but luckily just as Nogo was leaving, Naquita showed up. Then we left to go to Adrenaline Forest.

Once we got to Adrenaline Forest, the instructors told us to put our bags at the back of the forest. After that we buddied up to get our harnesses on. Then one of the instructors showed us how to use our harness. At first I wasn't the best at clipping on and off but I got the hang of it.

Finally it was time to climb.  I started on stage one and found it too easy. Oh did I mention all the stages have an a.b and c part. Then I skipped to stage 3b which was jusst zip lines, but it was still fun.

Monday Funday

My day...

Whaea Willie makes us read silently for 15 minutes every day. It has taken a while for everyone to settle down but I actually enjoy it.

Today I learnt that Totara trees wood is light an easy to carve.
Tomorrow I promise to do three thing on my reading contract.

The Eel Life cycles

Today I learnt about the eel life cycles

The eel's eggs start off in the salt water. The eggs hatch there and are now called larva and then the larva float to the estuary. It takes about 1 year for the larva to get to the estuary and are now glass eels. From there, the eels move to live in rivers and lakes and are now elvers. From there, they just grow to be an adult and then the adults swim to the salt water, lay their eggs, die and repeat.

Maths using Volume

Today in maths I learnt about volume. Volume is measured in cubic cm, mm, metres

The formula for volume is 

Volume = length x width x height

V=l x w x h

   =12m x 4m x 3m

   =144m3(cubic metres)

I got it at first now I have to work on more problems.

Then Nogo made us do this problem: we had to find the volume of a sandpit that was 16m by 11m and 1.5m tall. The volume of the sandpit was 264m3  

V= l x w x h, 16m x 11m x 1.5m =264m3

The sand was $4 per cubic metre multiplied by the volume of the sandpit which was 264m3 which equalled $1056. 

Then we had to find 30% discount and the total overall cost.

Estimate Distances

Today in Nogo's math class we are learning to estimate distances with our pacing

It took me 506 of my foot length for 100 metres

Today in Nogo's math class. Arika and I compared our feet to a one meter ruler
4 of Arika's feet is one meter and 4 1/2 of my feet is a meter with shoes on and 5 of my feet are a meter without shoes on.

Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis 

Photosynthesis is how plants grow and make food. 

Plants are incredibly useful to scientists. Plants contain

chemicals and materials. Items such as toothpaste and T-shirts have

plants in them.

A plant starts as a seed and then begins to grow its roots.

But a plant can’t do that with just a seed. You need water,

sun and chlorophyll water, oxygen and carbon dioxide. 

Chlorophyll is a green photosynthetic pigment found in

plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. Chlorophyll is also what

makes a plant green. It helps when the plant is green

because then the sun will be attracted to the plant. It’s also

really helpful with the rotation of the plant sack.

Animals including humans could not survive without plants. 

Some animals feed on plants and other animals feed on the

plant eating animals. If you trace back what each animal eats in a

food chain it will always begin with plants. 

    Facts:

• There is only one way to make photosynthesis happen
• It takes six molecules of water and six molecules of

carbon dioxide to make one molecule of glucose during photosynthesis.

For most of the holidays I just watched

Netflix and chilled then I had a sleepover with Kahu, Jade

and Naquita  at the sleepover we had donuts from

Krispy Kreme, rainbow waffles, chips and milkshakes and

then we played with the with electric cars and on the tramp.
